If you are still keen to either becoming a handler with SAR Dogs Otago or joining SAR Dogs Otago to assist in the training of search dogs, the best approach is to read Getting Involved and then contact the Training Coordinator and come out training with us a few times to see what it's really about.

If you are interested in becoming a handler yourself, SAR Dogs Otago prefer that you join before you get a puppy. If you already have a dog you think might be suitable, be aware that SAR Dogs Otago strongly prefer that search training commences when the dog is young puppy (We will often advise prospective handlers that their dog is too old to start training.)
